On a piano keyboard in the base-note key, keys 1 (base-note), 3 (major 2nd), 5 (major 3rd), 6 (harmonic 4th), 8 (harmonic fifth), 10 (major 6th), and 12 (major 7th) are white while keys 2 (minor 2nd), 4 (minor 3rd), 7 (augmented 4th), 9 (minor 6th) and 11 (minor 7th) are black. For example, a harmonic 5th played together with the base (like G with C on the piano) vibrates three times for every two vibrations of the base, perhaps making the two notes sound reasonably in sync. A harmonic 4th (like F with C on the piano) vibrates 4 times for every 3 vibrations of the base, making the combined sound still reasonably pleasant compared to a minor second as long as the piano is reasonably-well tuned.
