ID#: 4885 Description: This blood smear micrograph revealed the presence of numerous P. falciparum rings form parasites; Mag. 1150X.

Note the RBCs that contain multiple parasites, which is more common to P. falciparum than other Plasmodium spp.. The affected RBCs contain delicate cytoplasm, and 1-2 small chromatin dots with occasional “appliqué”, or accolé ring forms. Content Providers(s): CDC/ Dr. Greene Creation Date: 1967
